Environmentalists to pedal out Wimbledon bike recycling scheme
2:50pm Monday 30th August 2010
Cycling fanatics are being asked to donate old bikes during a charity collection day being held on September 25.
The event, which takes place at the Abel and Cole premises in Waterside Lane Wimbledon, is being driven by Re-Cycle, an organisation aimed at providing cheap, sustainable transport in Africa.
Residents will be able to turn up and hand over their old set of wheels which will then be transported to a number of African countries, including Ghana and Uganda, where they will be used in a variety of ways - including transport for hospitals.
