New chapter for Colliers Wood library
6:20am Tuesday 9th March 2010

A troubled library has re-opened after refurbishment work.
Colliers Wood library was officially relaunched on Friday, with improvements made to the inside and outside of the building, as well as a new electronic system allowing users to check out books and other material themselves.
Last year, the council was heavily criticised by residents and opposition politicians for failing in its bid to move the library out of its current home in Merton High Street.
Councillor Linda Scott, cabinet member for housing and community services, said: “It is fantastic to see the library transformed into a lighter, brighter and much more inviting space for local people to enjoy.”
